Complete Detail at Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi (LIRZ)

Two to five days of comprehensive detailing at a quiet Umbrian base with hangar access and airside PPR.

Complete Detail at Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi is for operators preparing an aircraft for sale, closing out a pre-buy inspection, or setting a baseline before a season. Over two to five days in the hangar, we decontaminate and polish the paint, restore brightwork, deep-clean and disinfect the cabin and flight deck, and deliver a photographic report that documents the aircraft's condition before and after. The work is coordinated through Delta Aerotaxi, the handler present at the airport, and scheduled under Perugia's PPR requirement—typically as a standalone visit or as the anchor service in an annual care plan.

Why does a complete detail take several days?

Paint decontamination removes bonded contamination that a rinseless wash leaves behind—industrial fallout, tree sap, insect enzymes, mineral deposits. We clay the entire fuselage, wings, nacelles and tail, then follow with a single-stage machine polish that restores gloss and primes the surface for a long-life sealant. Brightwork on exhaust surrounds, leading edges and windscreen frames is polished by hand.

Inside, every cabin surface is cleaned to OEM specification: leather is conditioned, carpet and soft goods are extracted, galleys and lavatories are disinfected, and no-touch avionics in the flight deck are cleaned without contact. The cheat line, belly, gear bays and winglets receive the same attention as the upper fuselage. We photograph each stage so the record is complete, and the aircraft leaves the hangar with a known, documented baseline.

What does the photographic report include?

You receive two sets of time-stamped images: one before we begin, showing paint condition, contamination, brightwork oxidation and cabin wear as we found it, and one after completion, documenting gloss, surface clarity, interior finish and any areas that required additional attention. The before-and-after pairs cover the fuselage in sections, all flying surfaces, the undercarriage, cabin zones, galley, lavatory and flight deck.

The report travels with the aircraft's logbook and becomes part of the record during a pre-buy, an audit or a handover. If you are selling, the buyer's surveyor sees that the cosmetic condition has been attended to recently and methodically. If you are taking delivery, the report sets a datum for future maintenance. We deliver the file as a PDF and as individual high-resolution images, depending on how your flight department or broker prefers to archive it.

What changes at Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi?

Perugia sits at 697 feet elevation, 10 kilometres from Perugia city centre, roughly halfway to Assisi. The single runway—01/19, 2199 metres—handles scheduled turboprops and general aviation without slot coordination, but every GA movement is PPR: SASE, the airport operator, requires written notice between fifteen days and ten hours before arrival, copied to Delta Aerotaxi. The FBO coordinates PPR on your behalf and lists customs assistance among its services; Perugia is an airport of entry, and the customs office is on site.

Hangar space is arranged through the handler, and a multi-day detail is almost always conducted indoors to control dust, temperature and humidity during the polish and interior stages. Event peaks occur in July during Umbria Jazz and again in autumn for Eurochocolate; if your visit coincides with either festival, confirm hangar availability and ground transport early. The Umbria Airlink bus connects the airport to both Perugia and Assisi, though most crews arrange a rental car or driver through the FBO.

How does climate in central Umbria affect the aircraft between details?

Perugia's continental climate brings warm, dry summers and cool, damp winters. In summer, dust from the surrounding hills settles on parked aircraft, and UV exposure accelerates oxidation on unpainted metal and older topcoats. In winter, morning dew and occasional frost leave water spots that etch into the clear coat if the aircraft stands outside for weeks. Tree pollen in spring bonds to the paint and requires clay to remove.

If the aircraft is based here or returns regularly, a quarterly dry wash keeps contamination from building up, and an annual or twice-yearly complete detail resets the surface. If you fly in once for a pre-buy or a handover, the detail addresses whatever the paint and cabin have accumulated since the last professional service, wherever that was. Cold-soaked fuel tanks in winter can cause condensation inside the cabin if the environmental system is off for days; we check for moisture stains on sidewalls and window surrounds during the interior assessment.

Is this service part of a recurring programme or a one-off visit?

Both. Some operators schedule a complete detail annually or twice a year—once before the summer season, once before winter storage or a charter peak—and rely on interim dry washes to maintain the result. Others bring the aircraft to Perugia specifically for a pre-buy inspection, a sale or a delivery, using the detail to document condition and maximise residual value. Either way, the work is the same: exterior decon and polish, brightwork restoration, full interior detail, disinfection and photographic reporting.

If you are setting up a fleet programme, we can align the complete detail with scheduled maintenance at a nearby facility or with a cabin-systems inspection. If this is a one-off visit, we coordinate the PPR paperwork, hangar booking and turnaround timeline with Delta Aerotaxi so you have a single point of contact from the moment you file the request until the aircraft is released. The photographic report remains valid for as long as the aircraft's condition is unchanged, and many brokers and management companies reference it for twelve months or more.

What happens if the aircraft arrives AOG or with an unscheduled maintenance issue?

We pause the detail until the tech log is signed off. If a fault appears during the turnaround—a hydraulic weep, an avionics flag, a cabin system error—the handler arranges the engineer, and we resume once the aircraft is serviceable. The hangar protects the aircraft while it waits for parts or a tech, and the clock on the detail restarts when you give the word. There is no penalty for the delay; we bill only for work completed.

If the issue is discovered during our walkaround—a paint crack over a former repair, a loose panel fastener, fluid staining in a gear bay—we photograph it, note it in the report and inform the captain or the flight-department contact before we proceed. The detail does not replace an inspection, but it often reveals things that were not visible under a layer of grime or oxidation. The photographic record then becomes part of the maintenance discussion, not just the cosmetic one.

Questions operators ask about Complete Detail at Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi

How long does a complete detail take at Perugia?

Between two and five days, depending on aircraft size and paint condition. A super-midsize jet with well-maintained paint typically requires two to three days. An ultra-long-range aircraft with heavy contamination, oxidised brightwork or a neglected interior may take four to five days. We confirm the timeline after the initial walkaround and share a day-by-day schedule with the crew or handler.

Is hangar space included?

Hangar access is arranged through Delta Aerotaxi and billed separately by the handler. We conduct the detail inside a hangar to control temperature, humidity and dust during the polish and interior stages. The FBO coordinates the hangar booking, and the fee appears on the handler's invoice, not ours. Confirm availability when you request PPR, especially during July or autumn event peaks.

Do you need the aircraft to be empty of luggage and catering?

Yes—cabin and galley should be cleared before we begin the interior detail. Remove or secure all loose items, catering stock, crew bags and passenger belongings. We can work around installed cabin systems, but drawers, stowages and galley compartments must be accessible. If the aircraft arrives with items still aboard, we ask the crew or handler to clear them before we start the cabin phase.

What is included in the photographic report?

Time-stamped before-and-after images of exterior, cabin, flight deck and all detailed areas. The report documents paint condition, contamination, brightwork, cabin surfaces, galley, lavatory and flight deck before we begin and again after completion. You receive a PDF and high-resolution individual files. The record is suitable for pre-buy documentation, sale listings or fleet audits.

Can you detail the aircraft on the apron instead of in the hangar?

Exterior wash and inspection yes; full decon, polish and interior work require a hangar. Paint decontamination and machine polishing need controlled conditions—stable temperature, no airborne dust, no direct sun. The interior detail also benefits from a closed environment to manage humidity and prevent re-contamination. If hangar space is unavailable, we can perform a dry wash and cabin tidy on the ramp, but that is not a complete detail.

How do I arrange PPR for a multi-day visit?

Submit a written request to SASE Operations between fifteen days and ten hours before arrival, copied to Delta Aerotaxi. The FBO lists PPR coordination among its services, so you can ask Delta Aerotaxi to handle the submission on your behalf. Include your ICAO flight plan, estimated arrival and departure times, and the reason for the visit. The handler will confirm hangar availability, customs and ground-power requirements in the same exchange.

Is customs available for international arrivals?

Yes—Perugia is an airport of entry, and customs are on site. Delta Aerotaxi offers customs assistance, and the airport maintains a dedicated customs office. If you are arriving from outside Schengen or need to clear an outbound flight, coordinate the request through the FBO when you file PPR. The customs office number is listed in the airport's contact directory.

Do you offer a shorter version of this service?

Yes—Exterior Dry Wash and Full Interior Detail are available separately. If the paint does not need decontamination or polish, a dry wash and interior detail can be completed in one or two days. If only the cabin requires attention, the Full Interior Detail runs independently. The complete detail combines both and adds paint correction, brightwork and disinfection for operators who want a single, comprehensive reset.

What happens if weather delays the departure?

The aircraft remains in the hangar at no additional charge from us; handler fees may apply. We complete the detail and release the aircraft as planned. If weather or an operational change delays your departure, the handler manages hangar extension and any additional ground-power or towing. We do not charge a storage fee, but the FBO's daily hangar rate continues until you leave.

Can this service be added to a maintenance visit at another facility?

Yes—we coordinate with your maintenance provider to align schedules and minimise downtime. If the aircraft is due for scheduled maintenance at a shop in central Italy, we can travel to that facility or arrange for the aircraft to position to Perugia immediately before or after the check. The photographic report then documents condition at the same point in the maintenance cycle, which is useful for records and resale.
